Platteville City Park - Pride Picnic - Music in the Park & Chalk Art

Platteville City Park

This park has a lot going on, almost all the time! So if you are in the area stop on by and see what event it happening today! Even on peaceful days, you can look at the Veteran Memorial statues, each depicting a different war and just enjoy the shady lawn. There is a beautiful pavilion, a water fountain and park benches and picnic tables.

Music in the Park

When the weather turns nice in Platteville, they start "Music in the Park." Every Thursday different local bands play, food trucks line the streets and they serve ice cream and Platteville Root beer on occasion.

Kids dance, adults dance, and the park is full of people who brought their own lawn chairs and blanekts to lounge on.

Just remember to bring your bug spray. Biting gnats and mosquitoes are a problem during the early summer months!

Chalk Art in the Park

Another annual tradition in Platteville is to do an art contest using chalk. There are professional artists and enough sidewalk squares for the amateurs too! Kids and adults each pick their square and color away!

Come check out some of the children's doodles as well as the professional 3D artworks! And of course, under the pavilion will be some "cheese art" as well. You aren't in Wisconsin unless there is cheese somehow being honored!

Pride Picnic

Another annual event held at the park is the Pride Picnic. Really? In the small town of Platteville, do peple really turn out? Hell, yeah, they do! It's a fun time wtih music, bands, singers, a family friendly drag show, along with games and lots of vending booths!

So come on out and show your pride whether you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally!

And we got to meet Eric Wilson who was running for Congress.

About Me

Hi All! This blog is just a fun way for me to show off the things I accomplish in my life, the things I find beautiful and it gives me something to do. I have a chronic illness, and I spend most of my time in bed. Each time I go out and "do" something, it is an accomplishment   I love nature, animals, scenic views and people watching. (Not in a creepy way.) I am NOT a professional photographer, obviously, but I love to take pictures!  Many times with my art and photography I will add them into my online Zazzle Shops, so check them out! Louie, My Amazon Parrot

Louie, My Amazon Parrot  Louie has been in our family for about forty years now. We don't know how old he is. My mom got him from her friend and we know he lived in a bar for a long time. Thus his love of swearing and saying inappropriate things. But he is the sweetest boy. When my mom had him I was a little scared to get too close. I'd feed him a peanut here and there and talk to him but that was about it. He loves to yell, "help", which has resulted in neighbors calling the police at least once for my mom. When my mom passed, I inherited Louie. It was a learning curve trying to figure out what I needed for Louie. One thing I learned, was Louie was nice! Mostly. I say mostly because kids can make him nervous. We learned quickly he doesn't like too much action and screaming going on around him. But when it's just him, me, my other two dogs and cat, he is just fine. He will open his mouth to warn the dogs and cat not to get too close, but in general they will a...
