Platteville City Park - Pride Picnic - Music in the Park & Chalk Art

Platteville City Park

This park has a lot going on, almost all the time! So if you are in the area stop on by and see what event it happening today! Even on peaceful days, you can look at the Veteran Memorial statues, each depicting a different war and just enjoy the shady lawn. There is a beautiful pavilion, a water fountain and park benches and picnic tables.

Music in the Park

When the weather turns nice in Platteville, they start "Music in the Park." Every Thursday different local bands play, food trucks line the streets and they serve ice cream and Platteville Root beer on occasion.

Kids dance, adults dance, and the park is full of people who brought their own lawn chairs and blanekts to lounge on.

Just remember to bring your bug spray. Biting gnats and mosquitoes are a problem during the early summer months!

Chalk Art in the Park

Another annual tradition in Platteville is to do an art contest using chalk. There are professional artists and enough sidewalk squares for the amateurs too! Kids and adults each pick their square and color away!

Come check out some of the children's doodles as well as the professional 3D artworks! And of course, under the pavilion will be some "cheese art" as well. You aren't in Wisconsin unless there is cheese somehow being honored!

Pride Picnic

Another annual event held at the park is the Pride Picnic. Really? In the small town of Platteville, do peple really turn out? Hell, yeah, they do! It's a fun time wtih music, bands, singers, a family friendly drag show, along with games and lots of vending booths!

So come on out and show your pride whether you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally!

And we got to meet Eric Wilson who was running for Congress.

Lily Pads on a Peaceful Day

Lily pads on the Mississippi River  I took this picture when I visited a little fishing nook by my house on the Wisconsin/Iowa border. It's a quiet little spot where fisherman gather to catch their fish in an inlet of the Mississippi River. For me, I just like to sit and listen to the sounds of nature and watch beautiful pelicans and Cormorants fly across the water and take pics of all the beautiful-ness I see there.  If you like my photography please visit my gift shop: Through My Lens

Time for a Break! Sweet Squirrel Cooling Off on a Hot Summer Day

It's Too Hot! This will always be one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. This little guy was so cute laying on this branch just cooling off from a hot summer day. I mean come on, it's like he was practically posing for me! Way too cute.  If you love this picture or just squirrels in general, like I do, please visit my Zazzle shop where I put all my photography onto products. You can get this on a magnet, stickers, card, poster or numerous other products!  Funny Squirrels by Lil Bit of Everything

Pink Sun at Dawn

Pink Sun at Dawn I took this picture in August of 2021. The bright pink sun setting behind the trees in front of my house was just gorgeous. The camera could not picture the brilliancy of the pink. I just sat and watched the sun go down behind the trees until I couldn't see it anymore. The sad part of this picture, is that the sun is so pretty and pink because of the wildfires out West in California and up North in Canada. The smoke is blowing over and down and causing the sun and moon to have some pretty unusual although beautiful colors. So as I watch the sun go down every night, I pray for all the people being affected by these fires. I pray for the energy of the trees, plants, that the animals are safe there. It's so odd that there is always beauty in ugliness. ~ Lisa If you like my photographs then stop by and visit my gift shop. Thanks for looking and supporting my art and photography!
