Eagle Point Park in Duquque, Iowa

Eagle Point Park

One of my favorite places to go in Dubuque, Iowa is Eagle Point Park. It's super cheap, if I remember a buck or so. But there is splash pads and parks for the grandkids, lots of trails, many and a lovely walk along the cliff looking down on the Mississippi River. You can also watch the barges come in and out of the park.

It is a great place to see Eagles and pelicans.

The Dickeyville Grotto in Wisconsin

The Dickeyville Grotto Dickeyville, Wisconsin 305 West Main Street Dickeyville, WI 53808 (608) 568-3119 The Dickeyville Grotto and Shrines were built by Father Mathias Wernerus between 1924-1930 out of materials and found objects from all over the world. When he would travel he would find shells, china and pieces of glass and stones to add to his grotto. People from all over the world would send him pieces to add too. There is shrine to Jesus and many other smaller memorial stones. There is also a cometary on the property where Father Wenerus is buried on this property. After you tour the property make sure to stop in the church's basement to shop at the resale shop to support them. You can learn more from their website here.

Platteville City Park - Pride Picnic - Music in the Park & Chalk Art

Platteville City Park This park has a lot going on, almost all the time! So if you are in the area stop on by and see what event it happening today! Even on peaceful days, you can look at the Veteran Memorial statues, each depicting a different war and just enjoy the shady lawn. There is a beautiful pavilion, a water fountain and park benches and picnic tables. Music in the Park When the weather turns nice in Platteville, they start "Music in the Park." Every Thursday different local bands play, food trucks line the streets and they serve ice cream and Platteville Root beer on occasion. Kids dance, adults dance, and the park is full of people who brought their own lawn chairs and blanekts to lounge on. Just remember to bring your bug spray. Pink Sun at Dawn

Pink Sun at Dawn I took this picture in August of 2021. The bright pink sun setting behind the trees in front of my house was just gorgeous. The camera could not picture the brilliancy of the pink. I just sat and watched the sun go down behind the trees until I couldn't see it anymore. The sad part of this picture, is that the sun is so pretty and pink because of the wildfires out West in California and up North in Canada. The smoke is blowing over and down and causing the sun and moon to have some pretty unusual although beautiful colors. So as I watch the sun go down every night, I pray for all the people being affected by these fires. I pray for the energy of the trees, plants, that the animals are safe there.
